Ever since, it has provided a platform for promoting historic preservation issues (like the Save the 76 Ball campaign and the landmarking of Charles Bukowski’s bungalow), building a community of urban explorers (including dozens of free talks and tours under the umbrella of LAVA) and digging ever deeper into the secret heart of the city they love. Esotouric was born in 2007 with a calendar packed with true crime, literary, architecture and rock and roll tours. The tour was magical, a hothouse inspiring new ways for the by-then-newlyweds to tell the story of Los Angeles. The popular blog’s readers demanded a tour, and then another. Richard wooed Kim with high level library database access, with which she launched the 1947project true crime blog, highlighting a crime a day from the year of The Black Dahlia and Bugsy Siegel slayings. A chance meeting 18 years later proved much more agreeable. (Perhaps less inexplicably, their academic advisor believed they were soul mates). So, tune in and discover the incredible history of Los Angeles, with the couple whose passion for the city is infectious.Ībout Esotouric: As undergraduates at UC Santa Cruz, Kim Cooper and Richard Schave inexplicably hated one other on sight. And you’ll find the look of an Esotouric webinar is a little different than your standard dry Zoom session, with lively interactive graphics courtesy of the mmhmm app. This webinar is an illustrated lecture packed with rare photos and video that will bring the Bradbury Building to life on your digital device. Peculiar things about the Bradbury’s history and design that only its biggest fans might know or notice. The Bradbury’s “angels,” the very special people who either owned the building, or felt a profound sense of ownership, and ensured it would survive to the present day.The science fiction inspiration and ghostly message that brought architect George Wyman his greatest commission. How the Bradbury family made their fortune, and made their mark in growing Los Angeles.Your hosts Kim Cooper and Richard Schave have been obsessed with the Bradbury Building for years, and their researches recently led to them playing a central role in delivering a scarce original blueprint of the building to the Huntington Library’s collection of architectural plans. Join Esotouric, L.A.’s most eclectic sightseeing tour company, for a virtual exploration “Inside the Bradbury Building,” featuring rare photographs and video, original research and offbeat anecdotes that bring the city’s most fascinating office tower to life. But the Bradbury’s stories are almost as beguiling as its good looks. With its soaring atrium and mellow brick walls, wrought iron open cage elevators and elegant mezzanines, film noir and “Blade Runner” cameos, it draws visitors from all over the world. There’s nothing else in the city that’s remotely comparable to George Wyman’s 1893 office building at Third and Broadway. When Angelenos are asked to name their favorite landmarks, The Bradbury Building frequently tops the list.

RELATED: RPG Franchises That Peaked With Their First Game, According To Metacritic This way, they can get through the hordes of enemies with ease. When mixing those two things together, players can fight knowing their damage output goes beyond what the enemy can counter with. The important aspect of this helmet is that it increases the player's attacks by 30 or 40 points, plus, increases the chance of hitting a critical attack by around 150 percent. Torchlight: Infinites' magic-based meta is very important, so unlike other RPGs with a magic system, players will have to create builds that incorporate it in one way or another. These boots also help players survive when alone, meaning when there are no teammates nearby, the player's speed increases by 40 percent on top of the 20 percent, when this happens they can quickly down enemies and run back to their team. The Lone Walker's Boots increase the speed of the player by 20 percent, which is needed for times like the end game where enemy attacks are more damaging. However, that's not the main aspect of these boots, while speed plays a massive role in their stats, it's the speed of their movement that's more important than the speed of attacks. They can attack more, land more critical hits, and fight in a more efficient way. The Lone Walker's Boots do that, but also increase the speed at which players are playing. However, they don't have to take those hits, in fact, dodging and getting out of the way is one of the better ways to play Torchlight: Infinite, because it helps players stay alive longer. This will go a long way since most of Torchlight: Infinite's combat is about overwhelming players.īeing able to withstand a very strong attack is one thing, and when players can do that, they can play better. This may not seem like a lot, but when it stacks, players can create breathing room for themselves and their team. Also, if they have any AoE attacks with elemental damage, this chest piece increases that by at least 40 percent. Much like the many strength-based chest pieces, Sky Devourer increases the player's health between 80 and 100 points, so in the end game when they have other pieces with the same attributes, players won't go down that easily. RELATED: The Best Action RPGs To Play If You Like Dark Souls The main thing about Sky Devourer is that it's designed for players to withstand a large amount of damage and increase most of their attacks to a noticeable range. So if players have a ranged character, they can make that class damage resistant, and now they're a threat. One thing the game does differently from most other RPGs is that the classes don't really matter, but the builds do. The Sky Devourer is a good all-around chest piece and goes well with most classes in Torchlight: Infinite. The versatility of the armor is a reason why Torchlight: Infinite is one of the best mobile RPGs of 2022 because players don't have to fight one way. It's just a good dynamic piece of armor for players to have and as mentioned before, it works with most builds. It also allows players to take more elemental damage, which hurts more if they didn't have the chest piece. This all becomes important in the late game, and if players don't invest in those aspects early on, things can get harder. The reason being is that it increases the maximum life and mana of the character by 60 points, plus, another 60 points for the player's energy shield. Mainly, it works best with any build since most of its attributes are based on having the player fight in a more aggressive manner. Just like in other action RPGs like Mass Effect where players can be more fluid with their builds, Torchlight: Infinite does this right and this chest piece allows players to do just that. This a chest piece players should try out because the Vestment Of Song highlights a great aspect of Torchlight: Infinite, and that is players can be dynamic and change their builds all without having to refine everything. You can download the associated “.blend” file here. You can download a PDF copy of this post here.Notes below correspond to this YouTube video.I’ll be making additional notes for each of the videos in the series! We can force the icing to adhere to the donut using the “Shrinkwrap” modifier.Just some notes I made while following along with this now-famous blender donut tutorial. Once you shrink the center of your donut, you’ll notice that the icing no longer hugs the surface of the donut. Note: Screenshots below were taken without this modification, so if the donut still appears “fat around the middle”, that’s why! Hitting “1” to go into front view, turning on X-ray mode, and then selecting the middle portion of the donut mesh and hitting “S” will let you scale the mesh in to create this effect. This part has a lighter color, and usually forms a sort of “indent” around the center of the donut. You’ll notice that a lot of donuts have a section near their middle that is “less cooked” than the rest of the donut. Some parts of the icing don’t seem to be properly “shaped” to the surface of the donut, though. I now have a nice “bumpy” donut that is a rough match to my reference image. Here, I do my best to get my donut to match the reference image a bit better (I actually deleted my icing and started over with a “smaller” icing, created by selecting a smaller section at the top of my donut, to better match my reference): You can rotate and scale the extruded sections with the usual “R” and “S”. We can also make small “drippy” bits by selecting one two or more vertices and hitting “E” to extrude: We can now shape the icing by grabbing and dragging. You can do this by selecting an object and hitting “H”. Tip: From time to time you might want to hide stuff. In edit mode, the icing mesh should now appear to have more faces than before: Do this by moving “Subsurface” to the top of the modifiers list and hitting “Control + A” (or “Command + A” on a Mac) to apply it. Before we do this, we want to apply our “Subsurface” modifier to the icing to increase the level of detail in the grid. Now we can start shaping the icing to match our reference image. blend file, so if you move the image, you’ll have to re-import it! Note: Images pulled into blender in this way do not become part of your. Now, we switch the new window to “Image Editor”, and pull in our donut: We can do this by “splitting” the viewport.įirst, place your cursor on the border between two windows in the viewport:ĭrag the new window into place, until it is as wide (or narrow) as you feel is appropriate: We can pull this image into Blender for use as a reference. In my case, I am using a freely available image from the Wikimedia Commons. It’s always a good idea to “work from reference”, so go find a donut that you like. Note: The option “Project Individual Elements” in the snap tool is actually what causes all of our selection to snap to the surface of the donut, rather than just the single vertex we selected. Make sure you select “Snap to Face” and “Project Individual Elements”, as shown here:ĭragging the mesh now keeps the icing snapped to the surface of the donut: You can fix this using the “Snap” tool at the top of the viewport. From edit mode, if we grab a vertex on the icing mesh and simply drag it down (with proportional editing turned on), the rest of the mesh will tend to end up “inside” the donut, like this: We now want to give our icing some “dribbly bits” that droop down the donut (like real icing tends to do as it cools). Snapping Our Icing To The Face Of The Donut With solidify turned off in the viewport, we see this (much better!): With solidify turned on in the viewport, edit mode for our icing looks like this: We want to hide the solidify modifier we added to the icing, so that it doesn’t cover up our mesh while we’re in edit mode (otherwise, it’s quite hard to edit the mesh since we can’t select it). This file is the result of my work after following along with the steps in the YouTube video. Just some notes I made while following along with this now-famous blender donut tutorial. |
